Changes WinPack V5.53 -> V6.1
-----------------------------

New Features and Enhancements
-----------------------------
1. The concept of WinPack "Extras" - these are external programs
that can be installed so they appear as options on the WinPack
File Menu. Two "extra" programs are included with WinPack -
SelEdit and Alarms. Virtually any Windows or DOS program can be
set up as an "extra".

2. WinPack automatically detects if AUTOTIME.TXT and SELECT.TXT
have been altered. You can edit these files without having to
exit from the program to make the changes effective. (The
SelEdit Extra provides you with editing facilities for both
files).

3. Full support for NNA V3 BBSs, including compressed download.

4. The WAITCON and WAITPROMPT script commands can now be told to
abandon a script if text is received that implies the BBS is not
available - e.g. "Busy from", or "all BBS ports in use". This
means that the script no longer waits until it times out before
giving up. See the "Scripts - How They Work" section of the
on-line help.

5. A renumber program is included. If an FBB BBS renumbers its
messages, it should now be possible for WinPack users to
renumber their own system so the numbers exactly match those on
the BBS.

6. A button added to the read message screen to allow you to
save the message in a text file. (This option was available
previously, but you had to use "Print" and then select "Print to
file").

7. If you make a selection from the bulls list using "To",
"From", etc, there is an option to dump the text from all the
selected messages into a file.

8. The edit window can be zoomed up to the full size of the
WinPack screen by using Ctrl_Z or selecting Zoom from the edit
pop-up menu.

9. Alternative signature files can now be selected. (The default
signature file is now WINPACK.SIG, not SIG.TXT).

10. Icons on the tool bar show at a glance if there are any
unread messages and if there are any messages waiting to go to
the BBS.

11. 7plus code updated to V2.17.

12. The 7plus part size can now be set by the user from the
Options menu.

13. The 7plus directory structure has been reorganised.
7plus parts extracted from incoming messages are put in a
directory call 7EXTRACT, files for which all parts have been
received and which are successfully decoded are moved to
7DECODE. Previously both 7plus parts and decoded files were put
in 7DECODE.

14. A record can be kept in a log file (7PLUSLOG.TXT) of all
successfully decoded 7plus files, who sent them, and whether
they were received as a bulletin or as personal mail.

15. If "Auto 7plus Decode" is enabled, then, besides scanning
personal mail and bulletins for 7plus parts, there is now also
an option to scan capture files.

16. The quoting has been improved - if the quoted text has to be
reformatted because of the line length, WinPack tries to
maintain the original paragraph structur. (Provided that
paragraphs are separated by a blank line).

17. There has always been a restriction in WinPack that the
message list would not be downloaded during an Auto-BBS session,
if you were using compressed forwarding and you had mail waiting
to go to the BBS. This was because FBB will not update your
message list pointer on the BBS if you go into compressed
forwarding mode. This restriction has now been relaxed, provided
that your bulletin list command is "LR $NUM-", which uses
WinPacks own message list pointer, not the one held on the BBS.

18. An "Action" top level menu has been added. This is mainly to
provide menu options for some functions that were only
previously accessible via tool bar buttons.

19. An external program called LOC for calculating distances and
bearings between locations is included.

20. Three new script keywords added - PROC, EXIT_IF_CON and
EXIT_IF_DIS. See the "Scripts - how they work" section of the
on-line for an explanation of what they do.

21. The Prune and Delete options on the message list are now
available if you have made a selection based on "To", "From",
etc. Previously they were only available when the whole list was
being viewed. Prune and Delete are much faster than on previous
versions.

22. Most control characters, when keyed in to the WinPack
transmit window, are now passed direct to the TNC. Previously
only Ctrl_C was treated in this way.

23. Several other minor improvements and changes.

Bug Fixes
---------
1. If downloading personal messages failed during the download,
but at least one message had been downloaded, then WinPack would
send "km". This was almost always harmless, because the download
failure would most likely be caused by a disconnection. Also,
unread messages can't be killed, so the "km" would have no
effect, even if it got through to the BBS. However, it was
untidy.

2. The DDE link to WinPack did not support monitored frames if
BPQ was being used. The DDE link to WinpBPQ (the BPQ Terminal)
had the same problem. Both now support monitored frames when not
connected.

3. If the line length in WinPack was set to less than 69
characters, a line break would be inserted in lines in outgoing
7plus files.

Distribution
------------
WinPack can now be registered - see the Registration section of
the on-line help. Because of this, all restrictions on
distribution of the program via shareware dealers, etc, have now
been removed.
